FAISALABAD, Dec 31: A two-year-old girl died due to alleged negligence of the Allied Hospital’s Intensive Car Unit in charge and other staff.

Reports said Ruqayya was admitted to the DHQ hospital in a serious condition with lungs problem caused due to a peanut which blocked her trachea. The hospital doctors, after a successful surgery, referred the child to the Allied Hospital for admission in the ICU.

The ICU in charge and other staff on duty allegedly failed to provide emergency medical care to the child due to which she fell unconscious and later died in the hospital.

When the girl’s relatives protested against doctors’ attitude, they were forced to leave the hospital with the body.

As there is no ICU facility available at the 550-bed DHQ hospital, serious patients are shifted to the Allied Hospital on emergency basis.

Sources said staff negligence had become a routine at the Allied Hospital’s ICU and emergency.

They said it was second such incident in the week, as three days back an aged person had died due to alleged negligence of the doctors.

The concerned circles have demanded that Punjab chief minister should take notice of such incidents and order steps to check negligent staff attitude. They also urged establishment of an ICU in the DHQ hospital.

Case: The Ghulam Muhammad police registered on Saturday a case against three policemen, including a former SHO, for keeping a boy in illegal confinement.

Muhammad Akram, a resident of Madanpura, claimed that a police team of the Ghulam Muhammad police station, headed by its SHO Umer Draz, illegally kept his son Arslan in custody on the charge of extortion.

The case has been registered against former SHO Umer Draz, sub-inspector Abdul Sattar and ASI Sajjad Husain under section 343 PPC.
