ISLAMABAD: Creative impressions by local and international artists on display at Dastangoi won applause from art enthusiasts on Saturday.

The exhibition, titled, ‘Satellite’ showcased works which were a contemporary narrative that revolved around Pakistani art, design and culture.

The exhibition featured works by over 20 artists from Pakistan, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Morocco and the US. All the works were centered around this year’s theme, “destruction”.

The exhibition spread across two different locations and featured art works, site specific installations, workshops, performances, immersive experiences, food stalls and pleasantly curated music.

The organisers said the week from Nov 26 till Dec 2 aimed at establishing the city as a meeting point for global art scene where Pakistani artists, galleries and cultural institutions could build international audiences and patrons.

“This year we have over 20 artists, including Jason Seife from the US, Mous Lamrabat from Morocco and Rami Farook and Jumairy from the UAE,” said the organiser of the show, Amad Mian.

Among the Pakistani artists were Momina Javed, Aleezah Qayyum, Aleena Raza, Mohammad Noman Siddiqui, Rafiqullah, Nisha Ghani, Murtaza Zaidi, Haider Ali Jan, Ahmed Faizan Naveed, Niamat Nigar, Aimen Manzoor, Hussain Jamil, Open Design Studio and Workshop, Rameesha Azeem, Farrukh Adnan, Maha Sohail, Faizan Riedinger, Bilal Jabbar, Karim Ahmed Khan, Salman Hunzai, Zain Naqvi, Qasim Ali Hussain, Hafsa Nouman, Hira Noor, Harfun andDastaangoi.

“It has been absolutely brilliant and all the artists are very interesting. I’m a huge fan already,” said a guest at the show.

Another visitor called the works inspirational.

“The show presents a diverse spectrum of excellent artistic expressions; it also increases awareness and understanding of mixed media art,” she said.

From large scale art pieces to small images, the show included landscapes, installation art, figurative impressions, prints and mixed media.
