LAHORE: New state-of-the-art radiation machine Halcyon has been made fully functional for the treatment of patients at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Oncology (Inmol).

Installed at a cost of Rs400 million, it is the most advanced radiation machine in any public sector hospital in Lahore.

According to a press release, through this machine, a session of radiation will be completed in just five minutes. It will also help treat various kinds of tumors.

Inmol Director Dr Abubakar Shahid says the institute is the largest cancer treatment facility among the 19 cancer hospitals of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC).

“There are already three modern radiation machines here and with the addition of this new machine, our radiation department will work more actively than before,” Dr Shahid said.
