KARACHI: US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome has underscored the strong ties between Washington and Islamabad and vowed to further strengthen robust economic partnership and public health cooperation between the two countries.

He expressed this resolve while meeting with representatives of the American Business Council (ABC), Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), and a school for differently abled persons during his two-day visit to Karachi.

According to a press release issued from the US Consulate General in Karachi on Tuesday, in his meetings with industry leaders at the American Business Council, Ambassador Blome discussed how the US and Pakistan can facilitate broad-based, equitable and sustainable economic growth.

“I am committed to boosting bilateral trade and investment, especially through a new framework called the US-Pakistan Green Alliance that seeks to promote climate-smart agriculture and private sector-led growth in Pakistan,”he stated.

Ambassador Blome also met with AKUH leadership where he learned about their operations and toured the facilities.

The press release stated that the US Development Finance Corporation had provided a $30 million loan to expand AKUH and healthcare facilities.

Ambassador Blome visited a KFC-funded school for the Deaf community and had lunch at one of the company’s establishments that hires differently-abled workers.
