Laila and Quratul inspire Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Dec 30: Pakistan went 1-0 up against India in the three-match women’s netball series with a 39-34 victory in the opening match at the Liaquat Gymnasium on Friday.

The hosts rode on the good work done by Ume Laila and Quratul Ain to achieve victory after their side had elected to take the centre pass.

For the Indians Monalisa and Latika Mittal played well but their efforts went in vain.

The two sides now head for Lahore where the second match is to be played on Jan 1 at the Wapda Sports Complex. The third game is in Hyderabad on Jan 4.

Result: Pakistan bt India 39-34; first set Pakistan 9, India 6; second India 12, Pakistan 9, third Pakistan 11, India 8, fourth Pakistan 10, India 8.
