HYDERABAD: Seven members of a family suffered burns, two among them critical, when a gas cylinder exploded in a house in Shahi Bazaar area on Saturday. Three other inmates also sustained injuries but their condition was said to be out of danger.

The seven were identified as Ms Ayesha, Ms Lubna, Ms Rukhsana, 65; two-year-old Aaiza, Raheel, 20, three-year-old Muqadas, and Azeem, 28. Of them, the condition of Ms Ayesha and Ms Lubna was serious with 90 per cent burns hence they were shifted to Karachi, said doctors at the burns ward of Liaquat University Hospital, Hyderabad.

Ms Rukhsana, Raheel, Azeem and the child Aaiza were admitted for treatment but would be discharged, said the doctors. The fifth fire victim could not be identified immediately, while little Muqadas had sustained head injury probably from falling or hitting something during the frenetic rush of the family out of the burning house.
