Car lifters gang busted

RAWALPINDI, Dec 30: The Pindi DPO on Friday said the police had busted an eight-member gang of vehicle lifters and recovered 14 vehicles stolen from different parts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Speaking at a press conference, District Police Officer Saud Aziz said that a special police team headed by DSP Sardar Maqsood was constituted to check vehicle lifting in Rawalpindi.

SP Investigation wing Dr Azam, DSP Rana Shahid, SHO Waris Khan Riffat Abbas and other police officers were also present at the press conference held here at the Waris Khan police station.

The DPO said that the police had arrested Khan Bahadur, Muhammad Sheraz, Sher Zaman, Azmat Mehmood, Bashir Zaman, Shahzad Mehmood, Muhammad Shafiq and Malik Shahid.

Saud Aziz said that during interrogation, Bahadur Khan, Sher Zaman, Sheraz and Azmat Khan revealed that they used to dispose of stolen vehicles to Asghar Khan in the NWFP on Rs25,000 to Rs30,000 per vehicle.—Staff Reporter
