TAXILA: A drug addict allegedly shot dead his mother-in-law and critically injured his wife over a monetary dispute in Asifabad area in the limits of Wah Saddar police on Thursday.

Police sources said that 35-year-old Shahfeehullah, a native of Peshawar, was living in a rented house with his 50-year-old mother in law Aghbeena Bibi and wife Mahpara Bibi, 32. He was in the habit of demanding money from them to purchase drugs. On Thursday, he came to his in-laws’ house and demanded money and when they refused he took out his pistol and fired bullets at them. Resultantly, his mother in law died on the spot while his wife was injured critically. The accused managed to escape from the scene. Wah Saddar police registered a case and launched a haunt to arrest him.

Robber nabbed: A man overpowered a fleeing robber and handed him over to police in Hussainabad area of Wah Saddar on Thursday.

Police and eyewitnesses said Zulfiqar was going on his motorcycle when near Hussainabad a masked man equipped with a pistol intercepted him and snatched his motorcycle, cash and a cell phone and fled.

The victim raised an alarm and followed him and with the help of other people overpowered him a few miles away. During a scuffle, the suspect also received a bullet injury from his own pistol. Later, the suspect was handed over to Wah Saddar police who identified him as Mohammad Ismail and shifted him to hospital.

One held for shooting two persons in Attock: The Attock police on Thursday arrested a man for allegedly shooting and injuring two persons over a pity dispute during a cricket match in Ghourghushti area in the limits of Hazro police station.

Mohammad Umer allegedly shot and injured Toufeeq Shah and Rawaid Shah after an exchange of hot words during a cricket match.

Separately, Hassanabdal police arrested a man identified as Inamullah for attacking Mazhar Ali in Dhoke Mehdi.
