LAHORE: Modern curricula and teaching techniques must be used to improve education, Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi said on Thursday at the closing ceremony of the three-day International Conference on Research in Education-22, which had as its topic “Transforming Teaching for 21st Century Needs”.

In order for students to learn more, according to Dr Zaidi, they should be allowed to ask questions freely during class.

He said universities should design their curricula to meet the demands of the market and society.

Education, according to Dr Rafaqat, is a catalyst for personality growth and the creation of a civilised community.

He said there was a need to connect the curriculum with everyday life so that poverty, unemployment, corruption, and injustice could be eradicated from the country.

He said teachers should give a pleasant environment to students in the classrooms, and it was necessary to get rid of the rote learning system to move forward.

Punjab Higher Education Commission Chairman Prof Dr Shahid Munir said that in the three-day conference, delegates from all over the world, including Pakistan, presented more than 150 presentations, and 46 speakers and educational experts from other countries, including Pakistan, shared their experiences. Later, souvenirs were presented to the dignitaries.
