LARKANA, Dec 29: The Indian delegation of writers, intellectuals and journalists stressed the need of strengthening relations between the two countries. They were speaking at a reception hosted by the Larkana Writers Club on Wednesday. Head of the delegation Dr Kamla Parshad said the delegation received warm welcome in Sindh.

He said that he was pleased to see the Indus civilization – Moenjodaro.

Dr Parshad called for publishing of contemporary literature in the two countries to learn from each other.

He said the people of the two countries were followers of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai and Waris Shah.

He said that he wanted the young generation to carry forward the mission of late Sajjad Zaheer.

Comarade Sobho Gianchandani said that he was happy to welcome the guests from the land of his teacher Tagore and comrade Sajjad Zaheer.

He said that the culture and tradition from Karachi to Burma was the same.

Ms Noor Zaheer, daughter of late Sajjad Zaheer, said that her father had told her that Sindh was not only a seat of highest learning but the ocean of civilization, peace and culture.

She said that she could not express in words the love that she received during her visits to Karachi, Larkana and Moenjodaro.

Professor Siddik from the Delhi University said that he was proud that the word ‘Sindh’ was included in the national anthem of India.

Mr Thakur emphasized the need of frequent exchange of delegations to bridge the gap between the two countries.

Mr Muslim Shamim, Dr Dev, District Nazim Mohammed Bakhsh Arijo, Larkana taluka nazim Qurban Abbasi, Larkana writers club secretary Khalid Chandio, Manzoor Kohyar, Dr Zulfiqar Rahoojo and Dr Sagar Abro also spoke on the occasion.

On the occasion, the district nazim presented Ajrak and Sindhi caps to the guests.

The delegation visited Mohenjodaro and saw relics of the Indus civilization.

Additional Advocate General Mohammed Bachal Tunio presented his book ‘Legacy of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’ to the delegation, while Professor Mukhtair Samo gifted his poetry book to the head of the delegation.
