LAKKI MARWAT/DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A terrorist of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan was killed by security forces and police in a joint operation in Abdulkhel area of Darra Pezu town in Lakki Marwat district on Monday night.

A police official said the action was taken on a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in rural mountainous area and commandos of the counter-terrorism department participated in it. He said the armed terrorists attacked law-enforcement personnel near their hideout.

The official said law-enforcement personnel retaliated and killed terrorist Irshad, a resident of Manjiwala area.

He said the terrorist was wanted by the police in several terrorism-related cases.

He said the law-enforcement personnel seized weapons, ammunition and hand grenades and registered a case.

Meanwhile, a police constable was injured in a grenade attack on a police picket in Tank district on Monday night.

The police sources said two miscreants threw a hand grenade on a police picket in the precincts of the city police station and fled.

They said the attack injured constable Sanaur Rehman, who was shifted to the district headquarters hospital.

The police said they had launched a search for the attackers.

District police officer Waqar Ahmad reached the attack site along with a police contingent. He later visited the DHQ hospital and inquired after the constable. He ordered the provision of the best medical care to him.
