KASUR: The Khudian police on Tuesday arrested a man who killed a 12-year-old boy after alleged rape attempt.

DSP City Circle Muhammad Yaqoob Awan told a press conference at his office that police recovered the dead body of a missing boy from fields at Dholan village on Sept 29.

Police claimed that they had arrested a 20-year-old suspect who is the neighbour of Muhammad Asif, 12. The suspect, they said, confessed to killing Asif with a suckle when he resisted the rape.

DSP Awan said the suspect had denied having raped the boy and said he failed to do so and killed the child in frustration.

Mr Awan said preliminary medical report had no mention of rape, however, samples had been sent to the PFSA for chemical examination.

The slain boy is the brother of Faizan, 12, whose remains were found from sand dunes near Chunian bypass in September 2019. A serial killer had killed four minor boys between eight and 12 years and buried them at a deserted place. Faizan was among the four boys whose bodies were recovered from sand dunes.

The families of the missing boys registered their protest as police were reluctant to lodged cases against the suspect.

LIFE TERM: A local court sentenced a man to life in jail and a fine of Rs1.5 million for raping his 15-year-old daughter and causing the survivor to become pregnant.

She gave birth to a baby girl. In 2021, the Saddar police registered a case against the convict (names withheld to keep the survivor’s privacy intact).

Additional Sessions Judge Sajawal Ali made the decision public on Tuesday.

Up to Rs1m of the fine will go to the survivor and the remaining Rs500,000 to the child.
