DERA GHAZI KHAN: The deputy commissioner has ordered an inquiry into a scandal of transaction of commercial properties of vegetable market on residential/agriculture rates.

He has asked the assistant commissioner headquarters to probe the case.

Sources told Dawn that 400 transactions of commercial properties of vegetable market at Mauza Dhar in Opla tehsil were made on agriculture and residential rates to save money by not paying tax on commercial rates, which inflicted a loss of millions of rupees on the government.

Sources claimed that these transactions were made during the last week of June. Similarly, they said, the transaction of residential plots of more than 100 unregistered residential colonies in Dera Ghazi Khan were made on agriculture rates to avoid tax which includes development charges.

Deputy Commissioner Anwar Baryar appointed assistant commissioner headquarters as inquiry officer.
