Lahore, Bahawalpur reach women’s hockey final at Punjab Games

LAHORE: Lahore and Bahawalpur divisional women’s hockey teams cruised into the final of the 73rd Punjab Game after winning their respective semi-finals at the Mini Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.

Lahore thrashed Rawalpindi 5-0 in the first semi-final while Bahawalpur outplayed Faisalabad 3-0 in the other last-four match. The third/fourth position game between Rawalpindi and Faisalabad will be held at the same venue on Thursday, which will be the last day of the four-day gala.

In football, Multan and Sahiwal won their respective semi-finals. Multan beat Sargodha 3-0 while Sahiwal edged out Lahore 7-6 on shootout.

In the volleyball event, Faisalabad and Sahiwal qualified for the decider. In the semi-finals, Faisalabad beat Gujranwala 4-1 while Sahiwal ousted Lahore 3-0.

Meanwhile, Lahore swimmers dominated the Punjab Games taking top positions in seven disciplines contested at the Punjab International Swimming Complex.

In baseball, Sahiwal defeated Lahore 16-6 to win the bronze medal at PU New Campus ground.
