KHUZDAR: A Levies official was martyred and a suspected bandit was killed on Tuesday in an exchange of fire during a raid by security forces at a house in Mastung district adjacent to Quetta.

Official sources said a Levies team raided the house in Mastung’s Pir Kano area on a tip-off that suspects involved in highway robberies and looting passenger buses were hiding there. However, armed men opened fire at the raiding party, forcing the Levies men to respond in kind.

Besides two deaths, two people were also injured in the cross fire. The martyred Levies official was identified as Naib Risaldar Zaheer Ahmed Muhammad Shai.
