KARACHI: A young labourer died after falling from an under-construction multi-storey building in Defence Housing Authority on Saturday, police and rescue services said.

Sahil SHO Shahid Baloch said Imtiaz Sawan, 22, was doing shuttering work at the 28th floor of the building near Creek Club at Do Darya when he fell and hit the ground.

He said he died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfill medico-legal formalities.

The SHO said that his relatives took the body for burial. He said police would initiate further legal proceedings if the victim’s family intended to lodge an FIR.

Man killed by brother-in-law

A man was shot dead in the SITE area over an alleged family dispute on Saturday, police said.

The SITE-A police said Hamid Iqbal, 30, was gunned down allegedly by his brother-in-law Muhammad Ali at Khyber Mohalla and escaped. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Robbers shoot man over resistance

A man was shot at and wounded by armed muggers over resistance on Saturday in the metropolis.

The police said that Amir Nasrullah, 48, suffered bullet wounds while resisting a robbery bid in Gulistan-i-Jauhar near Continental Bakery. He was rushed to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.
