SUKKUR: A policeman was arrested after his uncle, a prominent landowner of Tangwani, was found shot dead in the house of a former union council chairman located near Sukkur bypass on Thursday night.

The policeman, Pervaiz Khoso, raised a hue and cry after the murder and told the area people that someone had killed his uncle, Babal Khoso. However, the bereaved family and many other relatives approached the Airport police and told them that Pervaiz Khoso himself killed Babal Khoso to take over his property.

After interrogating the suspect and recording statements of the bereaved family, the police reached the conclusion that Pervaiz invited his uncle, living in a village within the Tangwani area of Kandhkot-Kashmore district, to visit him. He arranged his uncle’s stay in the guest room of former UC chairman, Israr Khoso. He put some intoxicating substance in the food served to Babal Khoso before the latter went to the bed, the police said, adding that Pervaiz then shot him dead and started raising a hue and cry over his murder.

The body was transported to Sehat Golo village of the deceased landowner.

A large number of civil society activists, elite of Tangwani and elders of local communities, besides relatives and friends of the deceased, attended the funeral.
