KARACHI: A shopkeeper was shot dead in what police described as a targeted attack in Arambagh, police said on Sunday.

Area SHO Azam Husain Rajpar said that Shaikh Mohammed Rafiq, 55, after closing his plastic goods shop, was on his way home on a motorbike when armed assailants, also riding a two-wheeler, opened fire on him at Furniture Market near the Arambagh Park late on Saturday night.

He suffered a single bullet wound in the back and was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital where he died during treatment.

The SHO ruled out the possibility of a robbery and termed it a targeted killing. He said police obtained the CCTV footage that showed the assailants were already waiting for him.
