ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has approached Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) against what it called very objectionable, reprehensible and absurd talks of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah against PTI Chairman Imran Khan in a live TV programme and sought stern action against relevant persons of the programme in the light of the Pemra code of conduct.

In a letter written to Pemra Chairman on Friday, PTI leader Dr Iftikhar Durrani said on Oct 13, Mr Sanaullah was invited to Geo News programme Capital Talk.

In the programme, he said, Mr Sanaullah used very inappropriate language against the PTI chief in sheer violation of the Pemra code of conduct.

Mr Durrani said Pemra law and code of conduct did not permit the broadcast of such talks on the national media.

The PTI leader said the host of the programme, Mr Hamid Mir, neither stopped the offensive conversation of the interior minister nor expunged his derogatory talks in the repeat telecast against the PTI chairman.

“Instead the same programme was even broadcast again and released on social media,” Mr Durrani said.

He demanded the Pemra chairman to take immediate notice against the TV channel for airing such objectionable content in the programme.

He also requested the regulatory authority to immediately remove the objectionable content from electronic and social media besides taking action against relevant persons including the producer, director and editor of the programme in the light of the Pemra code of conduct.
