ISLAMABAD: Over three dozen stalls of vegetable were gutted in a fire broke out in capital’s Vegetable and Fruit Market on Friday.
Fortunately no loss to human lives and injuries was reported in the incident.
Officials of capital administration and police said the fire broke out at the onion and potato stalls and spread quickly to adjacent stalls.
After getting the information the officials of the administration, police and rescue departments reached the spot and started rescue operation, they added.
The rescue teams succeeded in extinguishing the fire, they said, adding that during the fire over 40 stalls and vegetables were gutted.
So far the cause of the fire is yet to be established, the officials said, adding that it was suspected that either the fire erupted from a cigarette butt or from fire ignited to prepare meal.
