TUSSLE: The dispute between the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) and the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) remained unresolved on the fourth day here on Tuesday.
People in several localities faced difficulties without electricity in streetlights and the TMA complex.
The Fesco officials had disconnected the power supply to the offices of the municipality and streetlights on Saturday night for non-payment of bills worth Rs13 million. In retaliation, the municipal authorities unloaded heaps of garbage in front of the Fesco offices.
However, the government has so far failed to arrange for a better option for the departments. Scores of people condemned the government’s inefficiency to control the situation.
When contacted, a TMA spokesman told this correspondent that the authorities were ready to make half payment to the Fesco but the department’s rigid attitude was creating problems.
The Fesco spokesman, on the other hand, claimed the municipal authorities had time and again been asked to deposit the outstanding arrears. He claimed the decision to cut power supply was legal which had been taken after due formalities, adding the supply could be resumed only in case of full payment.
