LAKKI MARWAT: At least five armed robbers looted over Rs10 million cash from a private bank branch in Lakki Marwat city in a broad daylight on Thursday and injured two guards who offered resistance, a police source told this correspondent.

He said the armed robbers wearing masks and carrying assault rifles and empty bags in their hands barged into the bank located in congested Mela Mandi Bazaar.

The CCTV footage shows that a security guard deployed at the main gate offered resistance and scuffled with the robbers to stop them from entering the bank, but they opened fire on the guard leaving him injured and then moved to the cash counter.

The source said that another guard was also wounded when he was hit with the butt of rifle. He said the robbers got away with over Rs10 million cash.

“The injured guards identified as Hameed and Shehzad were taken to government city hospital from where Shehzad was referred to Peshawar. He said that a police contingent reached the bank after the incident and launched a search for the robbers. Local police have registered an FIR against unknown robbers.
