LAKKI MARWAT: One proclaimed offender was killed and another injured in separate cases of fire exchange with police in Bannu district on Thursday.

An official said a party of Domel police station was busy in routine checking when two armed suspects travelling on a motorcycle opened fire on the cops after they were signalled to stop.

“A chase by law enforcers led to exchange of fire,” he said.

The official said the cops later launched a search for the attackers and arrested one of them in injured condition along with a pistol and hand grenade. He said the injured suspect identified as Sakhimullah, a proclaimed offender, succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.

He said Sakhimullah was a member of inter-provincial car lifters gang.

“The deceased outlaw was wanted by the KP, Punjab and Islamabad police in a number of car lifting cases,” he added.

Separately, police arrested a wanted man after an exchange of fire in Mamashkhel area of Bannu.

“After receiving credible information, a party of cantonment police station raided a suspected hideout in rural locality to arrest the proclaimed offender,” said an official.

He said the police arrested the PO identified as Tawab Khan in injured condition after a brief fire exchange. “The cops seized an AK-47 assault rifle, two hand grenades and ammunition from the arrested criminal and shifted him to a hospital,” the official said.

He said Tawab was wanted by police in several cases. He said the cantonment police had registered a case against him.
