SWABI: Three people were shot dead over land dispute in two separate incidents here on Friday.

Chota Lahor DSP Pasham Gul said that a man and his nephew were killed in Jalbai village of Chota Lahor tehsil, while one person was shot dead in Topi tehsil.

The first incident took place near Kajuro Masjid in Jalbai village. Eyewitnesses said that as Mohammad Sohail and his nephew Ayub reached near the mosque their rivals opened fire on them. As a result, both were killed on the spot.

The police cited land dispute as cause of the incident, saying the victims and the accused were relatives. The police registered a case against Kachkul Khan, Mudasir Khan and Mukamil Khan and have started investigations.

In Topi tehsil, Bakhtiar Ali, brother of deceased Mohammad Ishaq, told police that they were busy in their fields when his uncle Khan Zada and his son Babar Rabbani opened fire on them. He said as a result his brother Ishaq was killed on the spot. The motive behind the incident was stated to be a land dispute.

An FIR has been registered against Khan Zada and his son.

Also in the day, Mohammad Rehan, 20, a resident of Sahiwal, drowned in Pehur High Level Canal while bathing along with his friends. Rescue 1122 divers have started a search for the body. The victim’s father works as labourer in Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate.

Meanwhile, two rooms were gutted when fire broke out in the house of one Wahab Khan in Shewa Adda area. The rescue team brought the fire under control in an hour.
