ISLAMABAD, Jan 29: The National Accountability Bureau on Tuesday informed the Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, that still there were three inquiries pending against Asif Ali Zardari who is presently in police custody in connection with the import of BMW car through a surrogate.

Asif Zardari had filed a petition in the LHC, Rawalpindi bench that despite grant of bail in all the pending cases, he was not being released. The court had directed the NAB to bring complete record of all the pending inquiries against Asif Zardari.

Baseer Qureshi, Deputy Prosecutor General, on Tuesday informed Justice Javed Buttar of LHC that three more inquiries were pending against the petitioner. These inquiries relate to grant of licence for FM 100 Radio, Pay TV channel and about foreign assets.

The court inquired from Raja Shafqat Abbasi, counsel for Asif Zardari, that he had not filed an amended petition as he had sought on the last hearing. The counsel stated that he was waiting for the provision of record by NAB authorities.

The court was informed that presently Asif Zardari was in police custody in connection with an inquiry regarding the import of BMW car.

Asif Zardari, who is behind the bar since Nov 1996, has been granted bail in 13 cases. His conviction in pre-shipment case in 1999, was set aside by the Supreme Court and matter was remanded to the lower court for retrial.

Asif Zardari is presently lodged in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences which has been declared sub police station.
