ISLAMABAD, Dec 23: Christian leaders in Pakistan have urged their community to celebrate Christmas with simplicity to demonstrate solidarity with survivors of the earthquake in the NWFP and Azad Kashmir. Mehmoob Sada, director of the Christian Study Centre in Rawalpindi, said the ordeal of the people in quake-hit areas was not over yet and it was incumbent upon everyone to remember their sufferings while celebrating Christmas.

He said the Christian community supported the Pakistan government’s efforts for relief and rehabilitation of the quake survivors.

Younas Joseph, member of the Minority Advisory Council in Punjab, said celebrating Christmas with simplicity would send a message of solidarity to the quake victims.

Karachi-based social worker David Francis said Pakistani Christians would stand by their traumatized brethren and continue to contribute to the efforts aimed at mitigating their hardship. — APP
