ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) is all set to hold an event aimed at appreciating and encouraging best heads and school teachers of schools and colleges.
The FDE has decided to hold an event at Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-7/4, to mark World Teachers Day on Wednesday.
An official of the FDE said Education Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain sas expected to attend the function as chief guest. Parliamentary Secretary Education Zeb Jaffar will also attend the event.
The official said on the direction of FDE Director General Dr Ikram Ali Malik, shields and certificates are being prepared to encourage best teachers and heads for achieving outstanding results.
“We are going to give away shields and certificates to heads and subject specialists; around 100 teachers have been shortlisted,” he said, adding arrangements were being finalised by the directorate and administration of the IMCG F-7/4.
World Teachers’ Day is celebrated on October 5 in more than 100 countries and by over 400 member organisations of Education International — the international body of teachers.
Meanwhile, a source in the FDE said two surprise visits to two colleges had been planned for Monday by DG FDE.
He said Mr Malik had decided to conduct a surprise visit to check performance of heads and teachers of schools and colleges.
