ISLAMABAD, Dec 23: The government has revised the kinno export target to 200,000 tons this season as against 125,000 tons export of last year, indicating an increase of 60 per cent.
An official said that the export target was revised following having a preferential market access for kinno export to Iran and China to be effective from early next year.
The official said that Pakistan would also maintain its market share in Indonesia by resolving the import duty issue on kinno under the early harvest programme.
A Chinese delegation of Quarantine Bureau was currently visiting Pakistan to inspect kinno orchards and farms to verify their quality and package processing.
There was also a great demand to ensure availability of refrigerated containers for kinno export that increase the shelf life of the fruit.
The official said that the increase in kinno export would need more refrigerated containers this season as the demand for reefer containers was also increasing internationally, which would also affect the local supply.
