Pending appeals

ISLAMABAD, Dec 23: The Supreme Court has constituted a special bench for hearing 1,192 pending appeals which involved billions of rupees stuck up for the last many years.

An official said that the bench was expected to decide all the appeals by end of the current month, which mostly involved 142 issues.

The three-member bench was headed by the Chief Justice of Supreme Court, which would hear the appeals by end of the current month. The bench was constituted at the request of CBR chairman M. Abdullah Yousuf.

According to the official a comprehensive strategy had been worked out through which cases having identical issues would have been clubbed together.
