LAHORE: The Lahore Arts Council (LAC) will establish a gym for its employees and reactivate its YouTube channel besides digitising a number of books at the Alhamra library.

At a recent meeting of officials of the Alhamra Art Center, The Mall and the Alhamra Cultural Complex, Qaddafi Stadium, some key decisions were taken for the improvement of the council and physical health of the LAC employees. It was decided that a gym would be established for the physical fitness of the employees. The gym would be established at the cultural complex and could be used by artistes, intellectuals and the staff of Alhamra.

The LAC has also decided to develop a mobile app for its outreach. It was also decided that the Youtube channel of Alhamra would be reactivated for introducing new programmes. The council through the channel will promote literary and cultural activities and share interviews of famous personalities from art and culture.

The executive director has formed committees in the council for smooth working and carrying out different tasks. He asked the committees to carry out their assigned tasks in the stipulated time.

The council in another move is digitizing all the books at its library. Earlier, Athar Ali Khan as ED digitized the scripts of old plays in the archive section.The council is also organising a calligraphy exhibition in connection with Ashra-i- Rehmatullil Alameen (Peace Be Upon Him). The exhibition would feature traditional and art calligraphy and the artistes could submit their works to put on display at the exhibition by Sept 30.
