TAXILA: A local court on Monday handed down life imprisonment to a man for killing his father in Attock.

Nadeem Khan was found guilty of strangling to death his father after an exchange of hot words as the convict wanted transfer of property in his name which was declined by his father.

Additional Sessions Judge Mirza Shahid Baig also imposed a fine and in case of default the convict would undergo six-month imprisonment.

The court ruled that the case stood proved beyond a shadow of a doubt since eyewitnesses deposed against the accused and the documentary evidence also corroborated the testimonies.

Meanwhile, a man was booked and jailed under the Parents Protection Ordinance 2021 for beating and misbehaving with his elderly parents.

“My son was misbehaving with me and his father and on Monday, he trashed, abused and misbehaved with me and his father when we refused to pay him money,” the victim told the police who arrested the son.

Under the ordinance, evicting parents will be a punishable offence. Those found guilty may face a prison term up to one year or fine, or both. The Taxila police SHO Mirza Qammar Javaid told newsmen that upon the complaint of the woman, police had arrested the nominated accused identified as Zeeshan under the Protection of Parents Ordinance, 2021 and sent him behind the bars.
