RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has expressed its concerns over the delay in Rawalpindi Ring Road project.

The RCCI delegation led by the chamber’s president, Nadeem Rauf, called on Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Murtaza and director general Saif Anwar Jappa and discussed matters related to the civic body especially the multi-million projects to be launched in the garrison city.

The RDA officials informed the delegation about the progress on the ongoing projects, including Rawalpindi Ring Road and Leh Expressway.

Mr Rauf emphasised that the Ring Road project should not be delayed anymore and immediate work started on the industrial zones around the Ring Road, adding that the chamber and the business community were concerned over the delay on starting work on these key projects.

The business community of Rawalpindi believes that the Ring Road project would be a game changer for Rawalpindi, he said.

The project of widening Kutchery Chowk had also been approved in the budget but work had so far not been started. The delegation also met RDA Director General Saif Anwar Jappa and gave a briefing on development projects.

RCCIGroup Leader Sohail Altaf, senior vice president Asim Malik, vice president Talat Awan and newly-elected office-bearers were also present in the meeting.
