PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has turned down a request of the Islamabad police to provide personnel for security during the upcoming march of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on the federal capital.

In a statement issued here, Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif said that the province could not provide policemen to the federal government as KP needed them to maintain law and order situation in the province.

Besides, he said the KP government could not provide its force to the federal government for what he said ‘illegal use as federal interior minister Rana Sanaullah wanted to use the force to stop Pakistani citizens from entering Islamabad’.

“The interior minister of the imported government wants to use the KP police to save his government ruling over some kilometres,” he commented.

Earlier, the Islamabad police had asked the KP police to provide 4,000 personnel of the police and 5,000 Frontier Constabulary.

Sources said the Islamabad police had said the personnel should have teargas guns and shells, but should not be armed.
