KARACHI: The Asian 6-Reds Snooker Championship, the shorter version of game, cues off at Kuala Lumpur on Sunday with 38 cueists from 16 nations vying for honours.

According to information made available here, defending champion Amir Sarkhosh of Iran has been top seeded in the draw. He is followed by Pakistan’s Babar Masih, runner-up of the last edition held at Doha in 2019.

The players have been divided into eight groups and top two from each will qualify to last-16 round. The semi-finals and final will be played on Sept 28.

Babar’s compatriot and reigning world champion Ahsan Ramzan has been seeded seventh and placed in group G.

According to fixtures, Babar will open his campaign against Sri Lankan Mohamed Thaha Irshath while he is pitted against Alijalil Ali of Iraq in his second match on Sunday.

Snooker sensation Ahsan will take on Dhvaj Haria of India in his Group G opener followed by his next fixture against Hng Yuan Yew of the host country.
