BAHAWALNAGAR: The Mandi Sadiq Ganj police on Sunday arrested a man who uploaded disparaging content against the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and their companions on social media a day ago.

The man, a resident of Mandi Sadiq Ganj, was booked after workers of the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan informed police that the suspect had posted derogatory material against the prophet and his companions, and presented the screenshots and video footage of the suspect’s facebook ID.

Taking action on the written complaint, police registered a case against the suspect under Sections 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 298-A (use of derogatory remarks, etc., in respect of holy personages) of the Pakistan Penal Code on Saturday.

Later, police launched hunt to arrest the suspect and took him into custody during a raid on Sunday and sent him behind the bars.
