RAWALPINDI: Snipers will be deployed on rooftops while streets, roads and routes will be barricaded on the occasion of Imam Husain’s Chehlum.

On the other hand, traffic police have prepared a traffic diversion plan to facilitate commuters during the procession.

Waseem Riaz Khan, senior superintendent of police operations, held a session with his subordinates at the Police Lines Headquarters. Dolphin Force and district police officers also participated in the meeting held on Tuesday.

Mr Khan told the meeting participants that snipers would be deployed on rooftops, streets and roads to ensure foolproof security.

Police officers shall report on duty in time and will not leave their post till the end, he said, directing senior police officers to check and brief police officials deployed for security from time to time.

As part of security, he said walk-through gates will be installed at the entry point of the procession and people will be allowed to enter after body search.

Rawalpindi police will be using all resources for security, Mr Khan said, adding that safety of life and property of citizens is the primary responsibility of police.

On the other hand, the city police officer (CPO) Rawalpindi went into a session with senior police officers and district police officers to review strategies to combat crime.

Crimes, especially mobile phone snatching, motorcycle lifting and robberies have been increasing day-by-day.
