KARACHI, Dec 19: Talented Yasir Khan toppled seventh seed Inam Gul in straight sets to advance to the last eight stage of the Rs360,000 Karachi Club Yaqoob Admaney memorial tennis tournament at KC hard courts on Monday.

Unseeded Yasir, younger brother of Pakistan No.1 Aqeel Khan, demonstrated lovely all-round court craft to send Inam Gul crashing out of the event 6-4, 6-3. He displayed better services, ground strokes and consistency to emerge winner after an hour’s play.

Muhammad Manzar also caused some stir when he downed teenager Usman Ejaz 6-3, 6-2 to enter the quarterfinal.

Second seed Asim Shafiq, third seed Jalil Khan, fourth seed Nomi Qamar and 8th seed Rasheed Malik also booked berths in last eight.

Nomi Qamar was taken to tie-breaker by another talented player Wasif Cheema before chalking out a 6-1, 7-6 win.
