LAHORE, Dec 19: A delegation of Pakistani doctors working abroad visited the central station of Rescue 1122 and emergency wards of the Jinnah Hospital on Sunday evening.

Punjab Health Minister Dr Tahir Ali Javed accompanied the delegation, which was headed by Dr Hasan Bokhari.

At Rescue 1122 central station, Punjab Emergency and Ambulance Service director-general Dr Rizwan Naseer gave a detailed presentation about the service.

Dr Bokhari stated that the Rescue 1122 was serving with a very impressive and state-of-the-art emergency response system.

Dr Javed said the government was paying special attention to the international standard training facilities to the doctors so that they could remain in touch with the latest developments and advancement in the health sector.

He said the government would extend cooperation and grants to doctors and rescue officials for in-service training and refresher courses.

He said the government had launched the Rescue 1122 service to provide efficient and effective rescue and transportation to the victims of accidents, emergencies and disasters.

The minister said the service would soon be extended to Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Murree and Sialkot. He said an academy for emergency medical staff would also be set up in Lahore. The government would also improve emergency care at tehsil level and introduce free medicines for patients at all tehsil and district headquarters hospitals in the province.

At Jinnah Hospital, he said a modern burn reconstructive surgery unit was being constructed at Jinnah Hospital, while two burn centres would be established at Multan and Faisalabad.

He said a degree nursing college had been launched at Jinnah Hospital, while another such college was being set up at Nishtar Hospital, Multan.
