GUJRANWALA, Dec 16: An assistant director of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was transferred for his involvement in irregularities in passport cell on Friday. The FIA authorities directed Gujranwala passport cell to prepare a list of human smugglers and arrest them. But FIA passport cell officials were found keeping links with the smugglers instead of arresting them.

An inspector of the cell, Ghulam Sarwar, sub-inspector Muhammad Mushtaq and ASI Mushtaq Ghauri, were suspended from service when they were found guilty in an inquiry a week ago.

The inquiry also found assistant director Mushtaq Ahmad keeping contact with the smugglers.

He has been directed to report at Islamabad.
