Cop injured by robbers

FAISALABAD, Jan 28: A constable late Monday sustained serious injuries when a gang of highwaymen and a police team exchanged firing on the Canal Road.

Details gathered by the correspondent revealed three bandits drove away with Tahir Mahmood’s two-wheeler (FDO-9018) in Madina Town. The victim informed the Rescue 15 team which intercepted the bandits near Pipanwala bridge.

The bandits resorted to firing, injuring Gulzar Ahmad. He was admitted to the Allied Hospital in precarious condition.

BOOKED: The SHO in the Dijkot police station was booked for his alleged involvement in helping a proclaimed offender escaping from the custody of the police here on Monday night.

A local police team reportedly arrested the PO from Dijkot village and shifted him to the police station. Late Monday, the culprit escaped from the custody of the police allegedly due to negligence of SHO Ayub Sahi.

The police have registered a case against Sahi on the orders of the higher-ups. However, the accused is yet to be arrested.
