Trainee medics call off strike

PESHAWAR, Dec 15: Trainee Medical Officers (TMOs) attached with the Lady Reading Hospital, the Khyber Teaching Hospital and the Hayatabad Medical Complex have unconditionally called off their strike on the assurance of Provincial Health Minister Inayatullah.

The announcement was made in a meeting held under the chairmanship of the minister in Peshawar on Wednesday. Provincial health secretary Abdus Samad Khan, Dean Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Prof Arshad Javed, additional secretary finance and TMOs of the three teaching hospitals attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that the Finance Department had already sent a summary regarding increase in TMOs’ stipend and accommodation facilities with positive remarks to the chief minister for final approval.
