RAWALPINDI, Dec 14: Pakistan and Nepal have stressed the need for broader cooperation in different areas particularly in the defence field, says a ministry of defence press release.

This was discussed during a meeting here on Wednesday between visiting Chief of Army staff of Royal Nepalese Army General Pyar Jung Thapa and Senior Federal Minister and Minister for Defence Rao Sikandar Iqbal and Minister of State for Defence Zahid Hamid.

The ministers informed the Nepalese army chief that Pakistan attached greater importance to its ties with Nepal as both had common views on regional and international issues.

The two sides emphasized the need for the promotion of economic and trade ties, which would tremendously benefit the two countries.

They also discussed the cooperation areas of training for the military personnel of the two countries.—Online
