KARACHI, Dec 13: Advisor on Local Government Waseem Akhtar has said that effective monitoring of projects with the coordination of Asian Development Bank is being ensured to make them more purposeful.

He was talking to a three-member delegation of Asian Development Bank at his office. The delegation was led by Project Implementation Officer Asmat Shahjehan.

During the meeting, the Advisor referred to slow execution of ongoing projects of water supply and roads in Sanghar, Badin, Mirpurkhas and Thatta districts under Sindh Rural Development Project.

He said ADB has released US $62 million for these projects.

Waseem Akhtar assured the delegation that like other provinces, in Sindh also, the SRDP projects will be executed only at the districts level while Sindh Katachi Abadis Authority is providing housing and other facilities in urban suburbs for low income people.

He expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of respective DDOs and said it has been decided to appoint Project Directors from concerned districts or privately.

He said besides gearing up the pace of work, attention will also be paid on quality, particularly the network of roads from farms to market will be improved.—APP
