KARACHI, Dec 12: Top players of the country will be seen in action in the inaugural edition of Karachi Club (KC)-Yaqoob Admani memorial tennis championship, the richest tennis event in Pakistan’s history that will be starting from Dec 18-23 at KC.

Giving details of the event at a press conference on Monday, tournament director and former national champion Altaf Hussain informed that the event would carry a prize money of Rs360,000, which was the biggest-ever in the history of the country while the total expense of event would cost more than Rs600,000.

The prizes includes Rs65,000 for men’s single winner and Rs35,000 for ladies event.

The events in the tournament will comprised of junior U-17 singles, boys U-15 singles, men’s doubles, junior U-17 doubles, senior 45 plus doubles beside men’s and ladies singles. The girls U-17 would be introduced if the organisers received a minimum of eight entries. The last date for entry is Dec 14.

Top players who have confirmed their entries include Pakistan No1 Aqeel Khan, Nomi Qamar, Nida Waseem, Sara Mehboob, Jalil Khan and Amna Hameed.—PPI
