TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of women and men relatives of known kabaddi player Muhammad Aslam staged a protest at Faisalabad’s District Council Chowk on Tuesday against the Satiana police for allegedly killing him in a fake encounter.

They told reporters that deceased was arrested a month ago at the behest of his opponents and later killed three days ago in a fake encounter. They demanded a probe into the killing.

The Civil Lines deputy superintendent of police held talks with protesters and assured them that justice will be provided to them over which they ended their protest.

SUPPORT: Former federal minister Sheikh Waqas Akram announced on Tuesday supporting Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidates for PP-125 and PP-127 by-elections, Akram Chela and Nawaz Bharwana. Polling will be held on July 17.

He told a press conference at his residence at Jhang that he made the decision on the directions of Sial Sharif shrine’s caretaker Pir Syed Qasim Sialvi and added he had not joined the PTI. He confirmed that PML-N provincial minister Attaullah Tarar visited him during his Jhang visit on Monday and tried to convince him to support PML-N candidates for both seats, but he regretted that due to the local political situation, it was not possible for him to do so.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan will address a public meeting at Jhang’s Mai Heer stadium on July 8 regarding the by-election campaign of PTI candidates.
