GUJRANWALA, Dec 12: Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad and Multan have been declared ‘model’ districts under Police Order-2002, where community policing will be launched and police stations will be equipped with computers and other modern facilities.

This was stated by Punjab Additional IG Syed Azhar Nadeem at a meeting here on Monday. He said more police force would be deployed in these districts, while in future people would be given an option to get registered FIRs by E-mails at the police station concerned.

He said Rescue-15 would be revamped to improve its performance.

He said community policing would also be extended to other districts of the province gradually.

He asked police officers to resolve the problems of the people on priority basis and reminded them that they were public servants.

DPO Dr Arif Mushtaq, Crime SP Asif Hanif Joya, City SP Abdul Qadir and other senior officers participated in the meeting.

SUICIDE: A teenaged girl, Bano, allegedly committed suicide by taking poisonous pills over a domestic issue at Nanikpura on Monday.

Reports said the girl had a quarrel with her parents, and in a fit of dejection allegedly swallowed the pills. She died on the spot.
