MANSEHRA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz parliamentary leader in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Sardar Mohammad Yousuf, has criticised Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders for ignoring development of Hazara division.

“Imran Khan didn’t approve even a single mega development project when he was the prime minister, but Shehbaz Sharif after assuming the PM’s office visited Mansehraand announced mega development projects for Hazara division,” he said while speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday.

Mr Yousuf said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his recent visit announced the airport, medical college, Mansehra-Muzaffarabad motorway, women’s university and other such projects for Hazara.

“We have been demanding the status of a province for Hazara division as successive governments ignored its development,” he said. He said that Nawaz Sharif was the only prime minister who announced mega development projects for Hazara division in the past.

KILLED: A girl was killed and eight other people sustained critical injuries when a passenger jeep plunged into a ravine in Batkunder area of Oghi on Sunday. The jeep was on its way to Ghidda area from Oghi.

The locals rushed the injured to civil hospital, Oghi, where doctors pronounced a 17-year-old daughter of one Mulla Gee dead. Other injured were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital, Abbottabad.

TEHSIL SECOND TOP SLOT: Independent members of tehsil council, Mansehra, have started canvassing for election of their candidate to the office of convener/deputy chairman as Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz are yet to name their respective candidate.

The village and neighbourhood councils’ chairmen are also members of their respective tehsil councils by virtue of their offices.

“There is a majority of the independent councillors in tehsil council and we have started canvassing for the second top office in our tehsil as all the local government representatives elected in the second phasewould take oath of their respective offices on Monday (today),” Basharat Ali Swati, Safada village council chairman, told mediapersons.

He said that according to the recent amendments in the Local Governments Act, 2019, the members of tehsil council would choose their convener/deputy chairman and as such canvassing had been started for the purpose.
