LAHORE: The Hamza government on Wednesday presented a record over Rs332 billion supplementary budget incurred by the Buzdar government, which resigned on April 1, during the financial year 2021-22. It was Rs84.8bn more than the last year’s over Rs248bn additional budget.

Development sector claimed a major chunk of over Rs107.7bn, while state trading in food grains and sugar stood second with a demand of over Rs82.9bn.

An additional amount of more than Rs57.8bn was sought for roads and bridges, while Rs23bn extra were demanded for relief measures and over Rs15.3bn for police.

A sum of Rs6.039bn was demanded for communications, Rs5.521bn for public health, Rs4.317bn for civil works, Rs1.953bn for irrigation and land reclamation, Rs1.291bn for administration of justice and Rs1.177bn for jail and convict settlements.

There were a total of 19 voted demands for grants for the year 2021-22 against 24 in the last year.

Voted supplementary demands required approval by the provincial legislature.
