TAXILA: The local administration in Taxila on Monday sealed two flour mills and sent four truckers behind bars for allegedly trying to smuggle wheat flour from Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Sources said a team of the local administration along with the food department officials led by assistant commissioner Marhaba Nemat Shan intercepted the four trucks which were carrying 900 bags of flour each at the Brahma interchange. The flour was seized and the drivers were sent behind bars after registration of cases against them.

Moreover, two mills were sealed for their alleged involvement in flour smuggling. A warehouse was also sealed in Taxila where a huge quantity of cooking oil and vegetable ghee was stocked illegally.

Meanwhile, the district administration of Attock launched a crackdown on illegally stored and undeclared stock of food items and sealed the premises.

Assistant commissioner Mohammad Saleem sealed a gowdown where 22 tonnes of vegetable ghee, eight tonnes of cooking oil was illegally stocked.

Another warehouse where 2,105 kilogrammes of vegetable ghee, 1,349kg cooking oil and 200 bags of sugar were illegally stocked was also sealed.

Similarly, assistant commissioner Hazro Zohaib Ahmed Najam raided different godowns and warehouses and seized hundreds of litres of cooking oil and vegetable ghee allegedly stored for hoarding and profiteering.
