MANSEHRA: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl has removed senior leader Mufti Kifayatullah as the district emir for Mansehra for violating its discipline.

“A committee constituted by the party’s provincial cabinet has not only removed Mr Kifayatullah from his office of the Mansehra district emir but also banned him from holding any other party office for three years for breaching discipline of the party’s both central and provincial bodies,” provincial deputy emir of the JUI-F and former senator Hidayatullah Shah told reporters here on Wednesday.

He said the committee had decided to hold election for the district emir’s office.

The JUI-F’s provincial deputy emir said the committee had also slapped a similar ban on many other office- bearers over indiscipline, while disciplinary action was taken against those, who supported independents or candidates of other parties in the second phase of LG elections.

When contacted, Mr Kifayatullah refused to comment on the party’s action against him and said he would give his detailed version on it in a couple of days.

KILLED: A car plunged into a ravine on the Hazara Motorway here on Wednesday killing a woman on board and critically injuring her son and the driver.

The car bound for Allai area in Battagram from Abbottabad met the accident after the driver lost its control due to speeding.

The Rescue 1122 workers shifted the injured to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital in an ambulance. The doctors declared one of them, Gul Bibi, dead and referred her son, Mohammad Latif, and driver Mohammad Rehman to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad, due to critical injuries.

Meanwhile, officials of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company on Wednesday assured the assistant commissioner of Oghi tehsil that power loadshedding would be carried out according to the schedule.

The assurance came during a meeting at the assistant commissioner’s office, where Pesco officials, traders and residents were in attendance.

Also in the day, district emergency officer Hafeezur Rehman revealed that Rescue 1122 handled 229 emergency situations and rescued 249 people during May.

He told reporters here that Rescue 1122 dealt with 43 road accidents and 114 medical emergencies in Mansehra district professionally during the last month and saved lives.

Mr Rehman said the organisation also responded to 63 wildfire incidents on time.
